Anthony Mandler has been set to direct Die in A Gunfight for Media Rights Capital, the Gabriel Ferrari/Andrew Barrer-scripted film that has Zac Efron attached to star. Mark Gordon is

producing with Jennifer Todd. Mandler, a photographer, music video and commercial director, is separately attached to direct Vlad at Summit Entertainment, with Plan B producing. UTA and Management 360 reps the director. The scribes wrote Die in a Gunfight right out of NYU and it made the 2010 Black List. Efron is attached to play a fight-prone and death-obsessed young society man who pursues a romance with the daughter of his father’s enemy.

Media Rights Capital is negotiating to acquire Die in a Gunfight, a script by fresh-from-NYU scribes Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari that has Zac Efron attached to play a fight-prone and death-obsessed young society man who pursues a romance with the daughter of his father’s enemy. The film will be produced by Mark Gordon Co’s Mark Gordon and Jennifer Todd, with Efron and Jason Barrett executive producers through Efron’s Ninjas Runnin’ Wild banner. Allyson Seeger and Jason Young will be co-producers. The writers are repped by WME and Prolific while Efron’s CAA and Alchemy.

Zac Efron will star in Warner Bros. “The Lucky One” based on the Nicholas Sparks novel about a Marine searching for a mysterious woman.
The film’s produced by Denise Di Novi and Kevin McCormick, who segued late last year as Warner production president into a studio deal under the Langley Park banner. Scott Hicks is attached to direct.

Di Novi’s produced three other Sparks adaptations for the studio — “Nights in Rodanthe,” “A Walk to Remember” and “Message in a Bottle.” Di Novi Pictures president Alison Green span is exec producing.

Will Fetters adapted “The Lucky One,” published in 2008 and centering on a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good fortune to a photograph he carried of a woman he has never met. He sets out to meet his good-luck charm when he returns to North Carolina.

Efron signed a producing deal earlier this year with Warner Bros., but isn’t attached as a producer on “The Lucky One.” He’ll next appear in the titular role of “Charlie St. Cloud” for Universal, opening Friday.
